A 34-year advertising veteran, David Koppelman has found his calling with 30 years dedicated exclusively to OOH media. He feels that OOH media is the truest advertising form available to people, and believed so much of it, that he proposed to his wife utilizing it.
David’s career started at AC&R advertising, working on Estee Lauder, Seiko, and Foot Locker. He moved to Campbell Mithun Esty, working on Texaco, Minolta Cameras, and Yoo-Hoo soft drinks. After a few years, he looked to broaden his negotiation skills and went to SFM to work on the G.Heileman Brewing Company, where he received his first introduction to OOH media.
It took David 1 year to realize he truly wanted to specialize in OOH, and sought out an opportunity to dedicate himself to the medium. He found this at Ogilvy & Mather, where he first met Andrea MacDonald.
In 1997, Andrea and David left O&M to start MacDonald Media, a full service OOH media company. Starting with nothing, Andrea and David have grown this business to over $80 million in billings, 4 offices across the country, and numerous accolades throughout the industry.
In 2020, MacDonald Media was sold to Billups and Dave continues to follow his passion in OOH as the managing director of the East Coast. The fire still burns and David
continues to push the media form he loves so much for accounts such as Nike, Charter/Spectrum, DKNY, and NYU Langone to name a few.
David is on many industry committees including the AAAA OOH Committee Chairman, and holding positions on the Geopath Audit Development committee, The Geopath Compliance Committee, Geopath Transit Committee, Geopath Conference Committee, Geopath OOH Ratings Sales Judge, on the advisory board of the Digital Signage Expo where he is a writing contributor, and was a chief judge in the OAAA’s media plan of the year award. He also was featured in Other Magazine, Adweek, Mediaweek, and Ad Age magazines, as well as other digital signage websites.
